Bikeability Level 3
Hinchingbrooke School Key Stage 3 team and Hunts SSP have been working in partnership to create a new opportunity for year 8 students.
-
Year 8 students who have a Bikeability Level 2 award were invited to participate in a Level 3 cycling proficiency Bikeability award. Bikeability is a government-recognised and funded cycle training scheme and is delivered by professional National Standard Instructors to the highest standards.
-
16 students spent a dry and very enjoyable morning with instructors working in small groups of a ratio of 1 instructor to 3 students. The cyclists significantly increased their confidence in how to cycle on multi - lane roads and use complex junctions. They learnt new skills e.g. how to perceive and deal with hazards, understand driver blind spots and advanced road positioning.
-
Instructors commented on how well the cyclists progressed during their training and were impressed with their hard work and application. All 16 cyclists met the criteria for the Level 3 award and have been awarded with a certificate and badge to celebrate their achievements.
