Week A Commencing 17th June 2019
Message of the week
Welcome to week 36
It was fairly quiet last week, with exams and work experience leaving the younger years much more space than usual around school. This week our older students will be sitting the final GCSEs and A levels before enjoying a well-earned rest.
Year 11 have their final assembly on Thursday afternoon and their Formal (HBK Prom) on Friday evening. The Assembly is often a tear-jerker with lots of photographs and memories of the last five years at Hinchingbrooke. The Formal is always a fantastic event; we particularly enjoy watching the students arrive in an array of vehicles and dressed up in their finest evening wear.
For the past two weeks, year 10 students have been learning about the world of work. The feedback has been really positive, which is always great to hear. This morning they will be back to school and we look forward to hearing all about their experiences.
Last Friday lunchtime, we held our annual ‘HBK’s Got Talent’. As always, the students impressed us with just how much talent there is in our school. Well done to everyone who took part.
Hot Chocolate Friday is a reward for our students (and staff) in recognition of going ‘Over & Above’ in some significant way.
Last Friday, we celebrated the contributions of some special students year 12, 9 and 8.
Golden Antler Winners
Each week, the tutor groups with the highest number of 5s (for great attitudes to learning) are awarded a Golden Antler trophy. Following the award of the trophy, the tutor arranges for a celebratory photograph to be taken. It is then displayed around school.
Last week, the Lower School Golden Antlers winner was …
… 8C1. Well done to the year 8 Cromwell students for excellent attitudes to learning.
And winner of the Middle School Golden Antlers was …
… 9M1 – Well done also to the year 9 students holding on to the antlers for Montagu.
Previous winners:
9M2

STAFF UPDATE
As soon as they are all confirmed, I will bring you a list of new staff appointments, including our new Principal.
And finally, we are all very sad to hear of the death of Roy Purchase. Roy worked at Hinchingbrooke School for 25 years, initially as Caretaker, then Site Officer. More recently, Roy has been working in a support role for the PE team. He was something of a legend around the site, always a friendly, familiar face and always happy to stop and chat, especially about football and his beloved Chelsea. He will be sadly missed. Roy’s wife, Wendy, and daughter, Tina, are in our thoughts.
