PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO THE PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED 2012/13 DATES:
Hinchingbrooke School is very excited to offer its students the opportunity to learn the art of Fencing. Huntingdon Fencing Club will be running a 6 week course on Tuesday afternoons starting on Tuesday 6th November.
I am writing to inform you that we are holding a Year 7 event on Tuesday 9th October. The aim of the evening is to tell you a bit more about someof the systems at our school and to introduce you to form tutors. The evening commences at 7pm in the PAC (The Performing Arts Centre near lower school). This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet your child’s form tutor and discuss how well they are settling in at Hinchingbrooke.
We thought it would be a good idea to share our plans for the Year 11 Science exams this year so you are fully aware of the route your son/daughter is taking.
This year all Year 10 students started their new GCSEs in either Biology/Chemistry/Physics (Triple) or Science/Additional Science (Double). At Hinchingbrooke we follow the AQA Specification (2011).
As you are aware there have been a lot of changes surrounding Science GCSEs over the last year and we would like to take this opportunity to explain how these changes affect your son/daughter.
We are pleased to announce the application process for HBK TV.
There are various episodes of HBK TV on the school website to view if you would like to find out more about who we are. Please see the short advert by following the link below.

Extra-Curricular Language Sessions – Mondays 3:50pm – 4:50pm
If your child is participating in a GCSE course in Modern Foreign Languages (MFL), you will be aware that a major part of this course is assessed through controlled assessments (60%) which are carried out under exam conditions at various times throughout Years 10 and 11. There are strict rules and regulations which govern how these controlled assessments are carried out and students must work independently when preparing for them.
Last year, Hinchingbrooke started a gardening club and we now have a small vegetable plot, tended to by our students.
Morrisons Supermarket are currently running an initiative called “Let’s Grow” which allow schools to exchange vouchers for gardening equipment.
The Education Transport Team would like to make parents aware that all students should have their bus passes with them every day. Students must only travel on the buses that their passes are valid for. In the event of any overloading issues, students not carrying passes, may be refused travel.
Any post 16 students that are travelling without a valid pass will be refused travel when bus checks are carried out by the driver or council monitoring staff.
