Hinchingbrooke School

Year 12 Work Experience

Work experience in Year 12 seeks to build on the excellent foundation built in Year 10, with students encouraged to find placements associated with their chosen post-18 destination in mind, thereby making it a truly personalised experience. As with Year 10, it is essential for young people to develop key skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Many companies currently working with the school are happy to offer placements, and some students have been known to gain full-time employment from their placements. The week always proves to be an informative and rewarding time for students, and staff always enjoy hearing their tales of the world of work!

During the week commencing Monday 30th June 2025 please use the following mobile number: 07872 422172 if you need to contact the school about work experience.

Should you wish to discuss your child’s Work Experience please contact their Form Tutor in the first instance, or Mr Butler, our Year 12 WEX Lead and Careers Advisor at jbutler@hbk.acesmat.uk.

Resources for work experience

We appreciate that not every student will be able to access work experience during the allocated weeks and that some employers are unable to offer opportunities during these times. Below, we have listed useful websites that offer a variety of WEX opportunities that can be accessed online, supporting learners to gain an understanding of the workplace. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact our Careers Manager Mr Butler jbutler@hbk.acesmat.uk
