Principal's Welcome

Hinchingbrooke School is an extraordinary school set in extraordinary grounds. The story of Hinchingbrooke House, the 16th century stately home in which our Sixth Form is based, is in many ways the story of our country, from the reformation and English civil war through to the restoration and beyond. We can’t help but be inspired by that rich history as we look forward to the future.

This is a school with excellent, modern facilities and an aspirational curriculum. We provide a safe, welcoming environment in which children are challenged to be the best they possibly can. Children here enjoy coming to school, try hard and are rewarded with good outcomes - their level of progress is well above the national average. We are an inclusive school with a strong record of providing support for children with a wide range of needs. We are equally ambitious for all our students and equally proud of all their successes.

Success is born from good habits – the things students do day in and day out. Success comes from taking as little time off school as possible; concentrating and listening; working hard in lessons; doing homework carefully. Those are the habits that will prepare our young people for their future, so those are the habits that we will help them practice every day of every week of every term.

We are committed to providing the opportunities children need to discover new talents, nurture new passions and develop their character. We are dedicated to the arts and to sport, and we have a very wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities open to children of all ages and interests. We believe that the ability to keep going when others give up will make our students stand out from the crowd, whilst the ability to treat others with compassion will make them valued friends, colleagues and partners. We want to help them develop the ambition and belief to achieve more than they thought possible and do things they never dreamed of.

There are a lot of people here at Hinchingbrooke who will ensure that your children flourish, because we want them to be the best versions of themselves they can be. The pastoral care offered by our large, dedicated team is superb. All our teachers, regardless of experience, receive continuing training and development. Together we will prove time and again that with hard work, high standards and kindness, there is nothing we can’t achieve.

our mission

Our Mission is to provide a high quality education for all our students, so that they learn and achieve well, and develop as well-rounded young people ready to take their next steps and equipped to learn

OUR CORE VALUES

Hard Work: Hard work is key to success in school and in life; we work hard every
lesson, everyday

High Standards: We aim high in everything we do, because a high bar inspires us to
constant improvement

Kindness: Kindness is our way; we look after ourselves, each other and our school, so that we can grow together

our key focuses

We keep things simple.  We have three focuses:

This is how we teach: The Hinchingbrooke Approach to Teaching is designed to ensure a high standard of teaching across the school, every lesson, every day

This is how we learn: We all learn in remarkably similar ways; we base our approach to learning on the best research we can find about what works

This is how we behave: Outstanding behaviour, every lesson, every day, is the best foundation for outstanding learning, so we expect nothing less
